When you use a battery powered drill you will notice when it is new that you get a good amount of use from the charged battery. As time goes on you notice that it does not take a full charge like it did when new. Your battery will actually wear out as it gets older to the point it will become useless to you and you are forced to buy a new expensive one.
But in reality, just because you can not recharge the battery does not mean you have to throw it away. What if your charger has gone bad? That could be possible but more likely it's the battery. Drill Battery Charger
Put your battery on the drill and run it until it is completely drained of power, try to squeeze out every little bit of juice you can. Now place the battery in your charger and charge it for the recommended time.
After you charge the battery put it back in your drill and run it again till it's completely drained. Repeat this cycle a few times and you should see an improvement in your batteries performance. Nicad batteries can develop what is called memory effect, this is when the battery forgets that it can hold a full charge and only charges part way. Cycling this way helps overcome this.
