Cordless Drills Specifications Guide

Everyone should agree with me when I say that a cordless drill is among the most important tools. It is crucial tool if you want to complete any kind of home-improvement project at home by yourself. No matter what you do, drills are always a useful thing to have.

Drill Battery Charger

So basically, after you've decided that you want to buy one, you should go to Walmart, Home Depot, Sears... However, when you get there, you'll notice that there are so many different cordless drills that impossible to choose the best one for you. In this article I'll go through few important specifications and explain each of them a little bit better.

Drill Battery Charger

First of all - size and weight. During past few years, size and weight of a regular cordless drill has reduced significantly. However, because of the new technologies being used, the performances remained the same.

Second important specification are torque and power. Torque is some kind of rotational force. Depending on what you want to do with you drill, you should decide on how much inch/lbs you need. If you need drill for minor home tasks, then 180 inch/lbs is enough. For bigger and more difficult tasks like remodeling and home construction use 320 incl/lbs. That should be enough. Torque numbers are always written on the manual. If not, visit manufacturer's website for additional information.

Speed is also important factor. Today, I would highly recommend you not to buy cordless drill without variable speed. with variable speed you can manually adjust the RPM of you drill in order to use it on either soft (lower speeds) or hard (higher speed) materials.

And lastly, batteries are also important. Old drills use Nickel-Cadmium batteries. However, those batteries are being replaced now by Lithium-Ion ones. Those batteries last few time longer and also have shorter recharging time. All in all, they are much more efficient.

RV Solar Panels - Harness Solar Energy To Save Yourself Serious Cash

If you own a recreational vehicle, you know that it doesn't matter whether you're a full-time traveler and RV enthusiast, or if you're a weekend RV camper, it's hardly ever a cheap ordeal to run your recreational vehicle, or it's various applications, for any substantial period of time at all. It's for this very reason that there are more and more people out there who have gone ahead and made the decision to invest in a hardy set of RV solar panels to help crunch down those expensive energy expenditures, especially when they take into consideration how affordable the different types of RV solar panels have become in more recent years.

Drill Battery Charger

Sure, you can generate electricity in remote areas for your RV using your built-in battery and fuel, but if you've already done that, or are currently doing it, then you're certainly aware of how fast the price of doing so can stack up. Gasoline, whether in regards to using standard gasoline or diesel fuel, can be very costly. The cost of using such a fuel source, especially in the large quantities that a RV will require, is a constantly growing expense, which is all the more reason to take advantage of RV solar panels as a sound alternative energy resource.

Drill Battery Charger

It's still wise to keep a gas-powered generator on hand for those instances that you absolutely need an emergency supply of energy, especially if you have depleted the surplus solar energy that your RV solar panels have stored inside of their attached solar battery charger. However, that's in the instance of emergencies, and in most cases, assuming the RV photovoltaic panels you have attached to your recreational vehicle are of a suitable size to provide a significant supply of solar energy for you to use, then you can enjoy the benefits of having a completely portable source of photovoltaic panels for all of your solar powered needs, minus the annoying noise of a running generator, and the fuel it takes to power it.

If you'd really like to invest in some RV solar panels of your very own, but really don't like the thought of having to drill holes into the roof of your RV to allow for the necessary ports to bolt in the mount for your RV photovoltaic panels, then there's always a worthwhile alternative that you should keep in mind. This great secondary option comes in the form of portable solar panels, also known as mobile solar panels.

Portable RV solar panels don't require you to mount anything to the roof of your recreational vehicle, so the necessary technical knowledge for owning a set of your own is very minimal. A great feature about the portable photovoltaic panels, besides their obvious portability, is their light weight. Each solar powered RV photovoltaic panel is fairly easy to move and position, and can generate an estimated 75 to 100 watts of energy per single 2 foot by 4 foot photovoltaic panel. To know if this is sufficient solar energy to power the appliances in your RV is completely determined by not only your appliances, but how often you'll be using them. This isn't a bad estimation though, of how much solar energy you would likely need your RV solar panels to generate for a small RV with average appliance use.

Always keep in mind where you're living and where you're going when deciding on what RV solar panels are going to be right for you. If you're in a very sunny area with plenty of exposure to the sunlight, meaning not so much foliage and forestry blocking the rays of the sun from reaching your RV photovoltaic panels, then you won't need as many RV solar panels to gather a reasonable amount of energy for your recreational vehicle. However, if in an environment that's more dense, and with less daytime sunlight to provide you with a powerful supply of solar energy, then you would probably require more RV solar panels on your recreational vehicle to get the same effect with fewer RV photovoltaic panels in a more sunny environment.

If you're looking for a safe route on what to do with RV solar panels, then think of them as something not to purely rely on for energy, but to be a strong supplement to your current means of generating electricity. This doesn't mean that your RV solar panels won't ever completely provide you with all the solar power you would need, because for many folks, their RV photovoltaic panels provide more than enough energy for all of their travel and recreational needs.

If you really are banking on getting the most out of your RV solar panels, then you're going to need to purchase several deep cycle batteries. This will help the make sure that you don't just get electricity from the gathered solar energy that your photovoltaic panels absorb while the sun is shining bright during the daytime, but that all of the collected solar power will be stored into these batteries, which will be usable anytime you need it.

One thing that's absolutely critical for not only getting the most out of your RV solar panels, but for also making sure that you don't blow your photovoltaic panel investment sky-high, is to buy a solar energy charging controller, assuming of course that the RV solar panel kit you purchase doesn't come with one inside of it already. This will help to monitor the charge of solar energy that flows into your deep cycle batteries, and assist in making sure that you don't overcharge said deep cycle batteries, because doing so could either result in your batteries becoming useless, or it could damage them partially and leave them unable to hold nearly as significant of a charge as they would have been able to hold when they're in their usual orderly and working condition.

There certainly are many different aspects, features, and exceptional selling points when it comes to looking at RV solar panels as an investment for your recreational vehicle. Note that like many things, there are definitely different quality RV photovoltaic panels on the market, some being able to gather solar energy more efficiently, while others might be more rugged and last longer in harsh and abusive weather conditions. Do your research, find how the necessary wattage you will need your RV solar panels to have, and take into consideration the environments which you live in or will likely be traveling, so that you can properly gather the appropriate amount of solar energy that will provide sufficient electricity to your RV and all of it's appliances.

15 Minute Battery Charger

When you're in the market to find a battery charger, I would highly recommend that you look into getting a battery charger that charges most batteries for a duration for 15 minutes. When you're looking to find a charger that can charge within this particular time span, I wanted to give you some pointers on how you can find one.

Drill Battery Charger

Read the description: When you're looking for a charger, most of them are going to give you the specifications. What you're going to want to look for is how long that they last. Any good, reputable company is going to tell you the truth on how long that they last.

Drill Battery Charger

Look at user reviews: There's nothing better than looking at what other users are going to say. The best place to find reviews on this are merchants. You never want to go to the manufacture's site, because you can find that they can filter out the results, or even create "fake" reviews, which can turn you away. Instead, you're going to know when the reviews are legit and good. These are the ones that you're going to want to take advantage of. Most people will complain about how long they don't last, so keep your eyes peeled on these.

Look for professional write ups: Most big media outlets such as PC World and others always have reviews on the top based things. These reviews are usually well written and you can find out a lot of information. These are some that I would read and see what the company recommends.

What should I look for in a charger?

You don't always want to just rely on the time factor. You're going to find that by doing this, you're going to potentially get a cheap product. The company may have focused solely on the speed, rather than the quality.

Wouldn't you rather have a 30 minute charger and get a battery that lasts? The only complaint that I find with these chargers is that since they charge so fast, some of the batteries just can't hold the charge. This is the most crucial part, when it comes down to purchasing a battery charger.

What kind of brands should I look at?

There are a lot of brands out there. I would recommend that you look into the Sanyo, Sony, and Duracell brands. They all have great ratings, as well as a good reputation online.

Solar Power - Advantages and Disadvantages

There are many advantages of using solar powered energy. Consider the advantages of solar power over using that of crude oil: Solar energy is a inexhaustible resource.

Drill Battery Charger

Although we cannot use the power of the sun at night or on stormy, cloudy day, etc., we can count on the sun being there the next day, ready to give us more solar energy and light. As long as we have the sun, we can have solar energy (and on the day that we no longer have the sun, you at must least believe that we probably wont exist, either).

Drill Battery Charger

Crude Oil, on the other hand, is not renewable. Once it is gone, it is gone. Yes, we may find other kinds of resources to tap, but those sources may run out, as well.

Solar cells are very silent. They can extract energy from the sun without making a noticeable sound. Now imagine the sound that the great big machines that were used to drill for and pump crude oil make!

Solar power is non-polluting and kind to the environment. Of all the advantages of a solar powered product over that of crude oil, this is, perhaps, the most important thing. The burning of oil releases Co2 and other greenhouse gases and carcinogens into the air.

Solar cells require little, to no maintenance (they have no moving parts need to be restored), and they last a long time.

As you can see, there are many advantages of solar power. The advantages of solar energy range from benefiting your wallet to helping the environment. There are actually only a few things that solar energy could be considered disadvantages.

Here are the disadvantages of solar power:

Solar cells/panels, etc. can be very pricey at the beginning.

Solar power cannot be created at night.

As you can see the advantages of solar energy create a much lengthier list that the disadvantages, and the disadvantages are things that can be improved as technology improves.

The Difference Between Price and Cost

"How much does it cost?" is usually the question people ask when looking to purchase something. That is, however, not the real question they are asking. What people want to know is the price, how much money they will give to purchase the item. The price is a one-time thing; money is given and the item is taken home.

Drill Battery Charger

The cost of an item is different and usually is considered last if at all. The actual cost is includes the price and the money it takes to maintain the item during its lifetime. The cost of an item continues for days, weeks, months and even years after the price has been paid.

Drill Battery Charger

Let me give you an example. When I decided to purchase a cordless drill I went to Home Depot and began shopping. I do know something about the quality of tools but when I saw the price of drills by the top makers, such as Bosch, DeWalt, Porter Cable, I decided to go with a "cheaper" manufacturer. In and of itself the one I chose was not a "bad" drill nor was it the "cheapest" on the shelf. However, it was still not the quality by those companies mentioned above. So, I paid the price of the drill which included a charger, two batteries, and a carrying case.

My son, who is a carpenter, also purchased a cordless drill about the same time I did. Since he needed high quality and durability he purchased a drill made by DeWalt. It also came with a charger, two batteries and a carrying case. He paid almost three times what I did.

Here's the result. He uses his drill far more than I and usually for heavier work. Within three years my drill quit working. The charger quit working and the drill did not work even with a fully charged battery. So, back to Home Depot I went in search of another drill. My son's drill still works and he uses it constantly.

As I look at this scenario I realize the total cost of the drill was far more than the price I paid for it. To replace the batteries for my drill would have cost almost as much as I paid for it originally. Then there's the cost of the charger. The only thing I would not have had to replace would have been the carrying case, although it did have a broken latch.

My new cordless drill is made by a different company (which is still not the highest quality as the one my son bought) and when I add the price of my original drill and the one I just purchased, it's almost as much as if I would have bought the higher priced one in the first place.
Why did I try to get by with less?

There could be a variety of reasons:

1. Ignorance: I might not know the true value of the higher priced drill

2. Mentality: I might be trying to buy the one with the cheapest price

3. Financial: I might have to buy the one I can afford at the moment

4. Carelessness: I may be motivated by apathy

5. Misled: I might believe I got the "best" deal through what I read about the product

In my business we focus on the quality of the item and help folk understand that the price they will pay today is actually cheaper over a twenty-five year period than if they purchased something with a lesser price over the counter. Which makes more sense, paying a higher price at the time of purchase yet knowing it will be the last purchase they will need the rest of their life, or buying something far cheaper at the moment yet spending far more over the same life-time period?
Do you consider price or cost or both when making a purchase?

Power Tool Battery Directory - NiCad, NiMH, and Li-Ion Batteries in Your Cordless Tools

It can be easy to dismiss the importance of a high-quality battery in the functioning of your cordless tools. As it turns out, however, a good battery is just as essential to a cordless tool as a healthy armature or motor. Battery technology has significantly advanced since the introduction of cordless power tools; since the development of the Nickel Cadmium (NiCad), power tool batteries have evolved from NiCad to Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH), and most recently to Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) technology.

Drill Battery Charger

Nickel Cadmium batteries were the first on the market for cordless power tools and though the technology is older, it is still very reliable. NiCads are less sensitive to adverse temperatures and have a high recharge cycle, meaning they can be charged and recharged repeatedly for a long period of time. NiCads are also less expensive than NiMH and Li-Ion batteries. On the down-side, however, NiCads tend to suffer from battery memory effect. This occurs when a battery can no longer accept a complete charge because it had been repeatedly charged without first being fully depleted. It seems the battery "remembers" how much energy it has discharged, and only wants to accept back that much energy from charger. The element Cadmium is highly toxic making it the most harmful battery to the environment. The NiCad's negative effects on the environment, in fact, cause them to be heavily taxed outside the U.S.A. As a result, many European vendors won't sell NiCad batteries.

Drill Battery Charger

Nickel Metal Hydride batteries run on a higher amperage than NiCads, because of this, they also have a longer run-time. NiMHs are lighter than NiCads but they are far more sensitive to hot and cold temperatures, in fact, NiMH can't work in below freezing temperatures (32 degrees Fahrenheit and below) and they degrade very quickly in intensely high temperatures (105 degrees Fahrenheit an up). Although the NiMH has a longer run-time than the NiCad it doesn't accept as many charges. NiCad and NiMH batteries do have very similar overall lifespans but NiMH has a larger energy storage capacity.

Lithium Ion batteries have a higher energy density than most other rechargeable batteries. A high energy density means that the Lithium Ion has a superior energy to weight ratio storing more energy for their size than most other batteries. Li-Ions have a very slow self-discharge rate meaning they retain their charge for much longer. Most rechargeable batteries significantly deplete as they are disengaged, the slow rate of charge-loss in Li-Ions, however, allows them to maintain most of their charge for longer periods, even on a shelf in your shop or garage.

There are many benefits to working with Lithium Ion batteries from their light-weight, to their long run-time. Li-Ions maintain their charge for much longer and have continuous max power throughout their energy discharge cycle. Other batteries consistently lose power as you work. Li-Ions are light-weight, and have a huge storage capacity, this means you now have a lighter, more efficient and powerful battery without the bulk. Lithium Ion batteries are by a landslide the least detrimental to our environment, and for many reasons they are the favorite of most craftsmen.

There are, however, some disadvantages to Lithium Ion batteries. Li-Ions are a bit more expensive. The complexities of production (in circuitry) accounts for this price difference. Each Li-Ion also requires a specifically built charger to accommodate that type of battery; this means that chargers are more expensive as well, and aren't universal to all types of Li-Ion batteries. The Li-Ion has a built-in chip that protects the battery from over and undercharging, and ensures it has a longer life. This computer chip, however, doesn't allow the battery to continue accepting charge once its energy level has dropped below a certain point. Once this happens the battery is essentially dead. Li-Ions also rely on this circuit to stay cool. Since Li-Ions lose charge so slowly, and the battery and charger communicate so well together, it's fairly simple to keep Lithium Ions temperate and at a safe charge level.

Remember, the quality of the battery you use is just as important as the quality of your power tool. The battery gives the right amounts of energy and finesse to your tools and their working parts.
